18 August 2003 - 23 August 2003,
Rome - Pescara, Italy
This seminar is organized to accelerate information interchange between Korean and Italian astrophysicists on new and hot topics on the subject. Especially for this year we want to exchange recent developments on modern astrophysics. Furthermore, this seminar will improve the cultural understanding between two countries. Especially this seminar will remarkably improve the understanding the origin of gamma ray bursts(GRB) and the X-ray astronomy with hot discussions between active young scientists of both countries. Furthermore, the exchange of new ideas about numerical methods for astrophysics will be basis for realistic large scale simulations.

Perturbations and gravitomagnetism in the Kerr-Taub-NUT spacetime |
The master equation describing massless fields of different spin in the Kerr-Taub-NUT spacetime representing a source with a mass plus gravitomagnetic monopole and dipole moments is studied. This equation can be separated into its radial and angular parts. The behaviour of the radial functions at infinity and near the horizon is studied in order to examine the influence of the NUT parameter on the phenomenon of superradiance. Moreover it is discussed the coupling between the spin of the perturbing field and the gravitomagnetic monopole moment. |

Stability region of Neutron Stars and Mass-Radius relation |
We present detailed analysis of the mass radius relations in the neutron stars which outline some interesting features about the morphology of such astrophysical object. In particular we numerically integrate the Tolman Oppenheimer Volkoff equations in correspondence to different choices for the core equation of state and using the standard Harrison Wheeler scheme for modelling the external envelope; in this procedure the central density of the star is to be regarded as a free parameter of the theory. The results of our integration show a crucial morphology in the {\em mass-central density diagram} which consists of the appearence of an existence domain; this achievement allows to characterize the astrophysical nature of an observed stellar object simply by its mass, i.e. when its values lies outside such domain we can exclude that the object under study is a neutron star. Furthermore we candidate (in alternative to the {\em strange star proposal}) neutron stars cores as the astrophysical objects responsible for the mass radius profiles observed by Beppo Sax. |

Electrostatics on a Reissner-Nordstrom black hole background |
The interaction of a Reissner-Nordstr\"om black hole and a charged test particle is studied together with the lines of force of their electric fields. The electric properties of the black hole horizon are discussed in detail and used to explain the expulsion of the lines of force from the outer horizon as the hole becomes extreme. The particle backreaction is also considered studying the effect of general static perturbations of the hole following the approach of Zerilli. |

Astrometry and Relativity |
Since James Bradley's discovery of light aberration (1727) to Gravity Probe-B experiment (launch November 2003) there has been a strict interplay between observational astrometry and measurements of relativistic effects. An overview on light aberration, Mercury's perihelion precession with solar disk ellipticity debate, lunar geodetic precession, Lense-Thirring and Pugh-Schiff precessions in Gravity Probe-B experiment are presented, in order to understand the final choice of the reference star for Gravity Probe-B satellite. |

Warped products and the Reissner-Nordstrom-AdS black hole |
We studied a multiply warped product manifold associated with the Reissner-Nordstrom-AdS metric to investigate the physical properties inside black hole event horizons. Our results include various limiting geometries of the RN, Schwarzschild--AdS and Schwarzschild space-times, through the successive truncation procedure of parameters in the original curved space. |

Gravitational perturbation and quasi-normal mode for wormhole |
Recently the detections of the gravitational waves become one of the important issues. There are some candidates for the gravitational wave sources. As the unknown source that could not be identified by typical interpretations, we propose the waves from the perturbation of the exotic source which consists of exotic matter that violates the known energy conditions. From the results, the wave forms that characterize the sources and radiated energy from the source are found. |

Dynamical Theory of Nonequilibrium Phase Transitions and Topological Defect Formation in the Early Universe |
We review the current issues of nonequilibrium phase transitions, in particular, in the early Universe. Phse transitions cannot maintain thermal equilibrium and become nonequilibrium when the thermal relaxation time scale is bigger than the dynamical time scale. Such nonequilibrium phase transitions would have happened in certain evolution stages of the early Universe because the rapid expansion quenched matter fields. We discuss the physical implications of nonequilibrium phase transitions in the early Universe. In particular, it is shown that higher order quantum corrections decrease the density of topological defects. |

Extreme scattering events |
It is generally believed that extreme scattering events are attributed to the refraction of quasar lights by a AU-sized lens with free electrons but the nature of the lens is still a mystery. We investigate the extreme scattering events with various lens profiles and discuss possible relations with dark matter. |

Gravitational wave from a black hole - torus system at the center of GRB |
We consider the possible gravitational wave radiation from a center of GRB, which consists of a rotating black hole and a torus. We propose gravitational waves generated by the precession of the torus. Using the typical values of black hole mass, mass and radius of torus, one can expect gravitational wave production with frequencies roughly in the range of $10^2 $ up to $10^3$ Hz. In the small wobble angle approximation, the amplitude is found to be not smaller than the recent estimation for a precessing neutron star. The effect of the back reaction of gravitational radiation as well as the magnetic alignment process is also discussed. |

High Energy Experiments with AMS and CREAM |
Status of the AMS experiment which is the first high energy experiment on International Space Station and aims to find the signatures of the dark matter as a form of SUSY particle such as photino will be discussed. Also, CREAM experiment which is the most recent ultra high energy cosmic ray experiments on ULDB in 2005 will be discussed. For the CREAM experiment we will describe the current status of the Si sensor charge dector which has been developed, manufactured, and tested in our laboratory. |
