Signal-to Noise improvements for observations of 2023 Betelgeuse’s Occultation

  • French and Spanish researchers have prepared a strong apparatus for an accurated analysis with all the data together. I did mention it in the last notes. simulador de la Ocultacio'n de Betelguese por Leona
  • IOTA policy is to produce free data
  • our strong point is have contributed to improve the quality of the data: theoretically, experimentally and, afterwards, on-field, with the good weather.
  • -for this reason you see also my poor clouded data among the successfull ones, they show the upper limit of the signal-to-noise ratio at 12, while the big 50 cm telescope yielded 30 steadily.

after that you will understand the title (I did not restrict there to Calabria, because the news was spread also in Spain by myself) the abstract, in which I do not say that the H-alpha radius is different from V and B, as usual for every star. This issue is mentioned in the text and in the conclusions, but this part will be done much widely in the fortthcoming French/Spanish papers, where the IOTA role will be only as data provider, and not as real experimental designer.

The visual evidence of that stellar Limb Darkening brings us back to the year 1590 with the Kepler's account read in latin in the year 2000 at Yale....this is also a noteworthy circumstance that I am pleased to include in this paper. A more precise quotation from the Kepler's Opera Omnia of Christian Frisch would be needed, but it could be much difficult to find in a short time, than a prosaic wikipedia article.
